Camden City DWI Lawyer

When it comes to annual DWI charges issued in New Jersey, there is no town that can rival Camden. This fact is even more astonishing when you consider that the next highest annual total of the 12 most populated towns in the state (i.e. Camden ranks 12th) was less than half of the 836 arrested for DUI in this city in 2014-15. The message that this should send to you is that this is a municipality that is extremely aggressive when it comes to apprehending drunk and drugged drivers. And if you are convicted of violating N.J.S.A. 39:4-50, including driving under the influence of prescription medication, heroin or marijuana, you will face serious penalties in New Jersey. There is a mandatory license suspension of up to 12 months, 2 years and 10 years for a first offense, second offense and third offense respectively. When you consider this in tandem with the fact that there are thousands of dollars in financial consequences, not to mention mandatory jail for repeat offenders, it is clear that a skilled DUI attorney is essential for anyone charged with DWI charges in Camden County.

Charged With DUI in Camden NJ

Whether you were charged with driving under the influence/intoxicated or breathalyzer refusal following a traffic stop, after an accident, at a sobriety checkpoint or any other reason, a conviction will cause big issues in your life. This is why it is imperative to be well equipped when your case is heard. All DUI charges issued within the city are heard at Camden Municipal Court, which is located at 520 Market Street, Fourth Floor, Camden, New Jersey 08101-5120. The court hears such a high number of offenses that it employees four (4) judges: Honorable Steven P. Burkett (Chief Judge), Honorable Roderick T. Baltimore, Honorable Teofilo Montanez-Santiago and Honorable Christine T. J. Tucker. Each of these judges has authority to decide all issues of fact and law when it comes to proceedings in the court. There is no right to a jury trial. The state is represented in all cases by one of two prosecutors, Sharon Eggleston, Esq., or David Anderson, Esq. Sessions at 8:30AM Monday through Friday and at 12:30PM Monday through Thursday. It is essential that you appear at all scheduled hearings or you will be subject to a warrant.
